from CARE to Little Lotus Hearts

Hello friends at Little Lotus Hearts. I haven't written in a while, but I am back with some exciting updates.
First of all, we're expecting four new mountain lions to come stay with us. They lost their home at a city zoo in the midwest and their fate hung in a balance, until CARE stepped in to give them a second chance. Watch a news segment about it here.

| Majanna, 8-years old. |

Beauty, 15-years old.
And Beast, also 15-years old and camera shy. |
|
| We expect our new friends in the winter. That will give us time to raise funds to build a new enclosure for them. It will also give the older pair, Beauty and Beast, a less stressful transition, because Texas can be pretty hot in the summer, even compared to the midwest.
In other news, my girlfriend Tawney and I took our annual 2-week holiday in an enclosure down the way. Here we are reconnecting while on holiday.

| The best part about it is the waterfall! Here I am enjoying the cool waters and change of scene. While we're away from our usual enclosure, our humans are rebuilding our platforms with special non-treated lumber (so we don't get sick if we chew on it). |

| The waterfall belongs to Arctic, a snow leopard. Each summer he spends 2 weeks in the vet center getting her extraordinarily thick coat brushed out to help her cope with the heat. Look how long his tail is! Read more about snow leopards here. |
