Greetings Little Lotus Hearts family! First off, I want to thank you for your continued support of me at CARE. In these difficult times, some folks can't keep up their "adoptions" of CARE kitties, but you guys have stuck with me and I am so grateful. Out here in Bridgeport, Texas, the weather is starting to get warmer and for a while the rain fell endlessly. I think our CAREgivers were drafting plans for an ark! Everything is so green and beautiful now! Life is good at CARE. In my last report, I told you about the more than 20 concrete houses to us by Hanson Pre-Cast Concrete of Grand Prairie, Texas. The humans have spent May installing these 25,000 pound monsters in our enclosures. It takes 10 people an entire day of working to install one "house," because they have to cut down fences, rearrange stuff with earth movers, weld, and then reinstall fences. There are still several left to go but they are in the home stretch. |

| Chompers, Chika and Consuela got great new sky boxes (right). They stand 9 feet high at the top. There isn’t much fight for "king of the mountain," considering Chompers' massive 700-pound body. Can anyone call |

| Lyddia has a new house also. It is made of massive 10,000-pound sandstones donated by Ron Rollins of C.F. Jordan Construction & Rodman Companies. The house has a very spacious interior, of 10 feet by 18 feet. Lyddia has been very depressed since the death of her life-long mate Tigger, who died of leukemia in early May. CARE staff is working really hard to find her a parent just like Little Lotus Hearts. | ![]() |

| Here I am with my girl Tawney in our new digs. That's me on the top. Our leopard neighbors, Ace and Shila, are also really enjoying climbing around their new houses.

| We have three new interns: Jamie Newman, Juli Lee and Katie Richter. All of my buddies and I have been having a blast breaking them in! They are always so funny. Let me tell you about some of the tricks we play on the new girls. First, I roll and soak my feet with the nastiest water and mud I can find (at right, Luca practices the splash technique). Second, give the people a come hither look...“Please come and love me!” Then finally jump up and splash them with a soaking hello! It is very fun! They always fall for that one. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| We also like to make them think we are not paying attention as they fill our water buckets. Then I fly in for the super stretchy watering tube. Sometimes there can be as many as 4 of us cats on a water hose at one time. Humans…they know there is no way to get the hose back! They cut their losses and cut the hose quick. We give them a hard time for awhile, but they are all really great. We are lucky to have such dedicated people around us. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Other water shenanigans include tipping over your water bucket immediately after it was just filled by the interns! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Hanging out by the "water cooler."
Last but definitely not least, I'd like to share with you this letter, below, that Tinkerbelle sent to Sears for donating some mattresses to our medical center. |

Dear People Who Make the Best Mattress in the World, Hi. My name is Tinkerbell. I am 17 years old, which is really old for a tiger. My bones ache every day. When I am in the CARE hospital the concrete floor is cold and makes me grumpy. My old mattress had a bad day with my teeth and claws. I needed a new one really bad. I am glad the last one is gone. The one you gave me feels much better and doesn’t smell like pee. Yes I have that problem too, but don’t tell anyone I peed on it on purpose so I could get a new one. I just wanted to send you a quick little note thanking you for donating some mattresses for me to sleep on. Below is a picture of me enjoying my gift from Sears. They are very comfortable and make my back feel so much better! If you get more, let me know. Some of my friends would love to have one too. We are not picky; any size will do. Thank you so much for taking care of an old lady in need. Love always, Tinkerbell |
