Hello from Texas! Roscoe the Mountain Lion reporting to you from CARE about life at our big cat sanctuary near Dallas. Well, it is definitely summer and HOT outside. Some of the older cats, like Tinkerbell and I, have moved into the Vet Center so we get to have air conditioning and big, fluffy mattresses to sleep on, although we aren't very good at making our beds in the morning and our new interns have to change the sheets every day. |

This is Tinkerbell's way of making her bed! She is going to be 18-years-old, a grand age for a tiger, on August 2nd of this year. Happy Birthday Tinkerbell!
She is hoping for an adoptive parent for her birthday this year. Adopters live all over the country, but if they are ever in the area, they are welcome to visit their cat! |

| Speaking of birthdays, our lioness Layla turns seven in August, too. Layla is also up for adoption. She loves to play Chase the Human when people run outside her enclosure. They never get very far before she's got them! | |||||||||||||||||||||||

Some of my tiger friends get some extra help staying cool in the summertime. They get to have their pools back again. But these pools take a very long time to fill, because our water wells are running dry, and sometimes the tigers will jump in before the interns get to finish filling their pool up because they're so excited.
Allie and Archie absolutely love their pool and will both get in at the same time, and that looks very silly. |

| Tabula the African Lion joined our CARE family recently. It took months of fundraising to get the $10,000 needed to build her enclosure. At first she was afraid, because she had only known a small, roof-covered cage before. Now, with 3,500 square feet and wide open sky, she has settled in.
Sadly, her companion, the lion Simba, succumbed to health problems and did not recover from anesthesia during the transition. Everyone at CARE was heartbroken, after working so hard to get him a better life. You can read more here. |

Arctic the Snow Leopard got a new swing in his enclosure. The humans like to do what they call "habitat enrichment." We call it fun!
Milo, one of our Spotted Leopards, got a new tire to play in. I wonder what other toys we can get out of these new interns. Katrina is from New Jersey and Lindsey is from Iowa, so they aren't used to the sun out here in Texas. |

| Here's Princess checking out the two new platforms her adoptive dad, John, just gave her. She loves them! Tigers like surveying the countryside from high places.
Did you catch CARE on TV recently? Here's the link; we were on the local news. |
