Alderan
This is our girl Alderan, who was in our lives for nearly twenty years. My mom found her as a kitten wandering in the park near our house. Alderan followed my mom through the whole park and to our home. That was in 1984.

We named her Alderan after a planet in Star Wars. because at first she seemed a bit of a space cadet.

Alderan, as newcomer, was enthusiastically welcomed by our two dogs, but was cooly received by our first cat, Butterscotch. Most of the time they just tolerated each other, but sometimes they were bunkmates and partners in crime.

Alderan loved to play and be silly. She would sit on the table and I'd throw foil balls to her for batting practice. She'd swat them here, there, and everywhere.

In her senior years, when she was too old to climb walls, we'd let her in our backyard sometimes. She'd chase butterflies, chew grass, doze in the shade, and get her white fur all dirty.

After Butterscotch passed away, Alderan became the matriarch reigning over the next generation of cats: Russell, Max, Coco, and Eloise. Let's just say they kept out of her way! She had always wanted to be the only cat, but she never got that chance.

Alderan died in April, 2003, at the grand age of twenty-years old, with her humans beside her. She is buried with her old dog and cat friends. We miss you, Alderan!
