Biskit
Biskit Jane

5/5/97 - 4/15/10

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. (Philippians 1:3)

Biskit's life was marked by several acts of compassion and love. My
brother found her, abandoned, on the side of the road late one evening
in early 2004. Her former guardians, for whatever reason, were no
longer willing or able to care for her. We soon discovered that Biskit
had an advanced case of heartworms. The condition was so severe that
she suffered heart damage. Our mother, through an act of love,
compassion and selflessness, paid (handsomely) to have Biskit's
condition treated. A persistent cough served as a reminder of Biskit's
heart condition. Despite her ailments, Biskit was playful, gentle, and
loving. She enjoyed rides, squeaky toys, and visiting with her
"cousins" Koko and Sandy. I gave Biskit a number of nicknames, namely
"Little Sweetie," "Biskwik," and "Little Fatty." (At one point in her
life, Biskit actually had "turkey waddle" under her chin - she loved to
snack!) We loved Biskit and we never once considered her a burden.
Though we are all heartbroken by her departure, we take comfort in the
thought that she is with our other pets, Domino and Ginger. Through one
final act of love, Travis, another member of our family, laid Biskit to
rest next to a statue of St. Francis, the patron saint of animals. My
message to Biskit: I am sorry that I couldn't be with you on the day
that you left us. I'm sorry that I didn't get the chance to tell you
good bye. I also regret any of the bad stuff that happened to you
before you came to live with us. We hope that we loved and cared for
you well enough to make any bad spots in your life a distant, hazy
memory. I believe that two angels here on earth, my brother and my
mother, made a real a difference in your life. Biskit, you made a real
difference in our lives. We love you.
