Mimi is short for the french word for cute, mignon, hence a male cat named Mimi. Mimi was the best and warmest lap cat, snored like an old man, and was very affectionate with the other cats, sometimes to their utter annoyance.  So, so sweet, and so, so fat.  Also known as doublewide.

My dear fat cat Mimi died on Monday the 20th of June.

I was at the kitchen table working on my computer when I saw him wake up from a nap on top of the piano.  He was stretching, as most cats do when waking up, but then slowly fell over and then slid off the piano onto the floor.  He often falls or slips off of things due to his clumsy weight so I giggled and watched and waited for him to get up. Nothing.  No movement.  So I ran over to him to see what was wrong only to see him gag a few times quietly and then slip off.  I of course shook him gently, then squeezed his chest, then wrapped my hand around his nose and mouth and blew into his lungs.  I saw his chest expand from my breath and heard the exhale. But nothing.  Nothing at all.  His body was limp. His eyes were fixed and there was no heart beat.  I tried over and over but no response.  I was in shock and could not believe it.  He was dead and looked very peaceful.

Anyway, as you can imagine, I am extremely sad.  Mimi was an angel of a cat.  My dear friend.  My siesta buddy.  My Mimi.

He had a good happy life and made a lot of people very very happy.  He will be missed.

Mimi with his companion of ten years, Marcel. I always pictured Mimi as the old French chef and Marcel as the Pepe LePew French player character in the relationship.
