Yippie was my wife Rebecca’s dog when we were first dating. He was not fond of me and, in fact, tried his best to intimidate me whenever possible. Yippie seemed to have a sixth sense for life and must have known that I would be the one to take Rebecca out of his life. In time, Yippie and I were on speaking terms. No hugs but also no growling. He accepted me as an inevitable curse upon his life as he had known it. Yippie was a senior citizen when we first met and died a year or two after Rebecca and I married. I guess he felt he had done his job and passed the baton on. I hope he is satisfied with me as his successor in protecting and looking after Rebecca. I will never be as cuddly and soft or as intimidating but he and I share an undying love. |
